We walked yesterday in San Diego for my son and the millions of other people with Type 1 diabetes. It was very encouraging to see the thousands of people there!!!
We will find a cure!!!
February 5th, 2009 at 07:57See ya at the walk!!!
February 7th, 2009 at 07:19I feel lucky that there are other people to unite with that have a family member suffering from diabetes.cant think of a better way not to feel alone. walk-money-research- even a potential cure so my husband and girls can be healthy….. Im walking
February 7th, 2009 at 09:41People always expect that diabetes isn’t anything big,
but it is….
they assume that insulin is pretty much a cure,
but it’s not.
Every year these walks have cause me to feel better about myself and feel as if were getting closer and closer to the cure. (:
I’m 14 and was diagnosed at the age of 7, so for 7 going on 8 years I have believed that these fundraisers are doing ALOT….and I still do believe that.
And trust me, I’ll remain KNOWING that. (:
So go help find the cure and walk!
February 8th, 2009 at 17:20can’t wait to go with all my friends!!!! =D
February 10th, 2009 at 17:34Please purchase the ‘Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days’ DVD, I did. It’s a good primer. I have forwarded a copy to an esteemed endocrinologist and 6 weeks on still await a reply, hmmm.
February 10th, 2009 at 19:09Granted, the type 1 issue is complicated, but there is already interesting research available that has been ignored, and avenues that should but will not get researched because certain profits could be compromised.
Type 1 (formerly Juvenile Diabetes) is an inborn error of metabolism most likely caused by an anomolie of the immune system.) Everyone should eat well and avoid refined, processed foods, especially diabetics; but Type 1 diabetes is differednt from the lack of insulin reception characterizing Type 2 (formerly adult onset) diabetes.)
February 13th, 2009 at 12:01It is a real disease that requires real research to cure.
I had diabetes for 39 years, and received a kidney/pancreas transplant 5 years ago. Walk!
Err, walking won’t cure diabetes, neither will additional medications. Eating nutritous food and not rubbish just may though. Research Dr Gabriel Cousens work among others.
February 15th, 2009 at 23:08lilviola…u know what these walks have done for me? they have filled me with even more hope and even more positive energy that you obviously need a dose of instead of that insulin of urs.

February 21st, 2009 at 05:47It is about the money. Diabetes is a business and nobody profits from a cure. I’m tired of hearing about a CURE too. That isn’t going to happen. So GO TAKE A HIKE for the JDRF. It’s good exercise but not much more than that.
February 22nd, 2009 at 00:04HEY … I’m a diabetic too. And if you go to the JDRF website you will see this is not about YOU. Working on a Cure and Finding a Cure are two different things. What do you want from the JRDF anyways? Money? Why so negative? Get involved and quit complaining about who is not helping you … you could probably be a big help to the organization.
February 23rd, 2009 at 17:31HEY,,, I’m a diabetic and the JDRF walks have done nothing for me. Why not just send the money to me directly? Nobody will ever mass market a cure because it isn’t good for business. What part of that don’t you understand?
February 25th, 2009 at 22:32Unfortunately, there is a lot of misunderstanding about Type 1. I was originally diagnosed as a Type 1. After I questioned “why” and “how” and had my insulin levels tested, the doctors apologized and re-classifed me as Type 2.
February 27th, 2009 at 03:53JDRF Walk for diabetes is great. Not only will it make people aware of this condition but also raise funds for research that will find help for the diabetics.

March 13th, 2009 at 06:52I agree — good video, nice humor. And, humor is important when fighting a serious disease. The good news is that we have the intellect to beat this disease and others …
